Shoppers turn out for Santa’s visit to Fox Valley

The team at Fox Valley celebrated the festive season in traditional style at the weekend with an annual visit from Santa ahead of his big day.

Santa’s visit was a two-day event and took place from 12pm until 3pm in different locations each day. On Saturday the grotto was set up on the bandstand and on Sunday it took place inside Ponti’s Italian Kitchen.

There was a £5 fee to visit Santa and each child received a gift with all proceeds going to charity. A total of £265 was raised from the two-day visit, the grotto was organised in partnership with Wortley Rotary Club who support local charities.

Fox Valley events manager Kayleigh Marron said: “We have loved having Santa here over the weekend, the visit created a lovely atmosphere on the centre and got us all into the festive spirit.”

Santa will also be on the centre on Saturday 21st December in Sandersons Department Store from 10am until 12pm. The event is free and there is no need to pre book to meet Santa. The Waldershelf Choir will also be performing in store afterwards from 12pm until 2pm.

Santa will also be in McGilveray’s restaurant that weekend on Saturday 21st December and Sunday 22nd December. There will be a £9.95 fee for this event and pre booking is necessary – the cost covers breakfast and a Christmas gift from Santa.

There will also be live music on the band stand at the weekend from Alexandra Carlos on Saturday from 12pm until 2pm and the Buskin’ Buddies will be playing on Sunday from 12pm.

Still to come up in the running to Christmas, Andy Fruit and Veg will be on the centre on Monday 23rd December allowing shoppers to stock up on fresh fruit and veg in preparation for Christmas. Live music will also be on the bandstand on Christmas Eve and Boxing day to get shoppers into the festive spirit.
