SHAKESPEARE COMES TO FOX VALLEY THIS WEEKEND!

22 September 2021

On Saturday the 25th of September the Steel Valley Beacon arts perform their rendition of a midsummer night’s dream at 2:30pm and 5:30pm in the Fox Valley Piazza area!

Steel Valley Beacon Arts is a community arts company based in north Sheffield, who offer professional training and mentoring through performance.

Suitable for any age or ability, previous performances such as “The Marxist in Heavan”, “Wyrd Sisters” and “The Addams Family Values” have been met by great reviews from attendants and performers alike!

A Midsummer Night’s Dream is one of Shakespeare’s most popular and widely performed plays, originally premiering in 1605 and still going strong today! The play is set in Athens, and consists of several subplots that revolve around the marriage of Theseus and Hippolyta. One subplot involves a conflict among four Athenian lovers. Another follows a group of six amateur actors rehearsing the play which they are to perform before the wedding.

Both groups find themselves in a forest inhabited by fairies who manipulate the humans and are engaged in their own domestic intrigue. The play is one of Shakespeare's most popular and is widely performed.

Steel Valley Beacon Arts rendition of Shakespeare is written with everyone in mind and is designed for all ages to enjoy. The show will include songs, colourful costumes, kids, donkeys, lovers and laughs.

Fox Valley Centre Manager Claire Reynolds said: “This is the second Steel Valley Beacon performance that we have hosted at Fox Valley, they are an outstandingly talented group of people who are sure to put on a fantastic show this weekend!

“Our piazza area is an unusual and quirky setting for a theatre production, but one that works really well for this rendition of A Midsummer Nights Dream. We hope the performance provides fantastic family-fun entertainment for all guests and it may even inspire the next generation of performers!”
