Green fingered youngsters help out with community planting project

18 June 2019

Cubs and Beavers from Stocksbridge have been developing their gardening skills by planting up an area around Fox Valley.

The landscaped area in between the offices of Maria and Samuel House at Fox Valley was in need of some brightly coloured flowers - so the Fox Valley team asked the youngsters from the 93rd Sheffield group ( 3rd Stocksbridge ) to lend a hand.

The youngsters have planted a variety of flowers including geraniums and Lavender creating a colourful display by the entrance to the centre. Parents, scout leaders and the Fox Valley team were also on hand to help out.

Mark Woodhead Beaver Leader and Assistant Cub Scout leader said: “The Beavers and Cubs really enjoyed their visit to Fox Valley to help out with the planting, we’re all looking forward to seeing this area really get established now.”

Tenant Liaison Executive for Fox Valley, Claire Reynolds, said: “We’d like to say a big thank you to the Cubs and Beavers for helping out with bringing a bit of colour to this little corner of Fox Valley, I hope they’ve all enjoyed getting involved with the project.”

The beautiful floral displays at Fox Valley received a prestigious Silver Gilt Award in last year’s Britain in Bloom Awards, the team are hoping for gold when the judges visit later in the summer.
