Fox Valley team join national campaign celebrating local markets

17 May 2019

The team behind the Fox Valley Market are celebrating the national Love Your Local Market campaign this month.

The campaign is co-ordinated by NABMA (National Association of British Market Authorities) to celebrate the UK’s many and varied markets taking place across town and city centres.

At Fox Valley the team have linked with St Ann’s Catholic Primary School to create a colourful banner promoting the centre’s market which takes place every Friday as well as a Farmers’ Market which runs on the first Saturday of every month.

Sarah Eady, Headteacher of St Ann’s said ‘Our Craft Club have really enjoyed making the artwork for the banner, using fruit and vegetables to create colourful prints. Providing opportunities for our children to be part of local initiatives is important, especially initiatives that promote community and local business such as Love your Local Market, so we were delighted with Fox Valley's banner design project.

The Fox Valley team are also planning to launch a series of new themed markets later in the summer, including a Vegan Market and a Craft Market.

The Love Your Local Market event launched on Friday 17th May and will last for two weeks running until Friday 31st May, it’s the 8th year the campaign has run to celebrate and raise awareness of local markets.

This year’s theme is “Markets Close to Your Heart” and that theme has been interpreted by the lovely artwork from the St Ann’s pupils – the pupils who created the pieces of artwork range from year 1 to year 6.

Jess Horton from the Fox Valley team said: “We are looking forward to Fox Valley getting involved with the Love Your Local Market scheme and the banner the children have designed is fantastic.

“We are really proud of our markets here at Fox Valley and are looking forward to adding to the number and variety of markets we offer here – so watch this space!”
