Fox Valley Hosts Family Fun Day focussed on the elderly

25 September 2017

Fox Valley in north Sheffield is hosting a special awareness day on Sunday October 1st focussed on promoting events and services in the community for older people.

The event has been organised by the Mayor & Deputy Mayor of Stocksbridge, Keith Davis and Julie Grocutt, Beth Wilson from Wiltshire Farm Foods and Kathy Markwick from Home Instead Senior Care Sheffield. It will run from 11am to 3pm in the market area at Fox Valley with lots of activities and entertainment planned throughout the day.

The event has been organised to celebrate The International Day for Older Persons on October 1st and will be attended by the Lord Mayor of Sheffield Cllr Anne Murphy as well as the Mayor of Stocksbridge Cllr Keith Davis.

As well as music and entertainment from Stevie Moore there will be face painting, food tasting and free reflexology taster sessions. The Awareness Day has been supported by Stocksbridge Town Council and is aimed at raising awareness of the events and services available for older people in north Sheffield.

Kathy said the event follows the success of regular Friendship lunches at The Old Rolling Pin at Fox Valley.

Kathy added:  “We really wanted to do something for the whole community but which focusses on an awareness of what groups and support are out there for older people in our part of the city.

“We hope everyone will come along and support the event and find out a little more about some of the fantastic groups and organisations there are.”
