Store manager Andy Cook said: “We are delighted to launching this new service for our customers, it’s something which we’re hoping will be really popular with both families and groups of friends and colleagues who fancy trying out these fantastic e-bikes.”

If the service proves popular a road bike hire may be launched next year.

Sir Gary Verity DL, Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire said: “The impact of Yorkshire welcoming the Grand Départ of the Tour de France and now hosting the yearly Tour de Yorkshire means more and more people are getting on their bikes to explore the county. This brings with it many benefits to both individual health and well-being and our environment in general.  This is a brilliant new service that will open up cycling to an even bigger audience and allow people with different levels of experience and ability to enjoy a fantastic day out on a bike in beautiful Yorkshire.”
