Spook-tacular turnout at Fox Valley’s first Halloween event

31 October 2016

Children and adults alike came out dressed in their spookiest costumes on Friday (October 28th) for the new retail destination’s first Halloween event.

The free event saw Halloween-themed activities such as spooky horse and carriage rides with special guests the Addams Family and the chance to meet and learn about creepy crawlies and other animals with “Meet a Creature.”

Lots of children won fantastic prizes for their Halloween costumes and pumpkin decorating skills and the mayor of Stocksbridge Cllr Alan Lord was on hand to give out the prizes.

The fancy dress competition was judged by staff in some of the stores at Fox Valley and the team  from Simon Blyth Estate Agents ran the pumpkin decorating workshop for the afternoon and hosted their own trick-or-treat in their office which can be found above NYC Bar and Grill.

Other activities included a Halloween photo booth with 100% of the profits going to the shopping centre’s chosen charity - Stocksbridge Community Leisure Centre.

Lauren McCaslin School of Dance who rehearse at the leisure centre entertained crowds with a thrilling dance display and the spooky Sugar Skull stilt walkers also attended the event with lots of sweet treats to hand out to youngsters.

Hundreds of children and grown-ups joined in with the huge fancy dress parade which saw lots of goodie bags and spot prizes from Paperchase being won. The fantastically frightening Roberts family from Grenoside were the lucky winners of a free meal at NYC Bar & Grill for their whole family fancy dress effort.

Centre manager Annabel Plumtree said: “This was our first big Halloween event at Fox Valley and we had a fantastic turn out and what a wonderful array of fancy dress costumes.”

The Fox Valley team are now preparing for the first Christmas Lights switch on event on Friday 18th November.
