Sheffield cyclists invited to meet the experts at Full Gas Bikes

5 November 2016

Full Gas Bikes at Fox Valley, north Sheffield, is hosting the first in a series of "an evening with the experts” events on Saturday November 12th with the chance for keen local cyclists to meet the team behind the Trek Precision Fit System.

Fox Valley was announced last month as one of the host locations for the 2017 Tour de Yorkshire and is in the heart of some of the best cycling routes in the region.

Full Gas opened at the shopping centre in June this year and is home to the state of the art Precision Fit System which helps riders maximize their position to get the best speed and comfort.

On Saturday November 12th bike fit expert and Trek-Segfrado consultant Paraic McGlynn will be at the store along with the world-renowned aerodynamicist and frame designer Kevin Quan.

They’ll be speaking about the principles of a well-designed bicycle and how it should work with the human body for maximum speed and performance.

Tony Gibb, owner of Full Gas Bikes and himself a 17-time national champion and world master’s champion said, “We’ve all experienced a ride that has put us off riding the bike for a few days and put it down to an ill-fitting saddle or the wrong shorts, but more often than not it comes down to your overall position on the bike or a bike that’s simply the wrong size for you.

“There is so little general knowledge about how the body works with the bicycle, and that’s why, when we heard Paraic and Kevin were in the UK, we were really keen to have them come into store.”

Both Kevin and Paraic have decades of experience working with some of the world's best riders across the globe such as current Olympic time trial champion, 4 times world champion and TdF yellow jersey wearer and multiple stage winner Fabian Cancellara. Their combined knowledge of bicycle design and fit are unparalleled.

Paraic said: “I think it’s great that a bike shop would be interested enough in their customers and local club riders to organise an educational discussion with Kevin and myself.

“Full Gas Bikes is right in the heart of some of the UK’s most challenging riding and is a hotbed for cycling – it will be a really fun night and we’re looking forward to sending people home better informed about their bikes and their positions.”

The evening with the experts is free to attend on Saturday 12th November at 7pm, Full Gas are offering the chance to win a personal bike fit along with a 33% discount for all bike fits booked on the night. Places are strictly limited. To book tickets visit https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/evening-with-the-experts-tickets-29107835319?aff=es2

Full Gas Bikes is located in the Fox Valley Shopping Centre, Stocksbridge, Sheffield - also home to a stage of the 2017 Tour de Yorkshire.
