Public Access Defibrillator at Fox Valley

27 October 2016

A new 24 hour Public Access Defibrillator has been installed and is activated and ready for use at Fox Valley.

The owners of the new north Sheffield shopping centre, Dransfield Properties, have worked in partnership with Penistone and Stocksbridge Community First Responders to fund the defibrillator and the purpose made cabinet which allows 24 hour access to the live saving equipment.

The defibrillator cabinet can be found mounted on the wall by the new Snap Fitness Gym at Fox Valley.

Fox Valley staff have been trained by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service and a further training session for the wider community is also planned on November 24th at Fox Valley from 6pm-7:30pm.

Donna Rennison, from the Penistone and Stocksbridge Community First Responders, said: “This is great news that Stocksbridge has a new Public Access Defibrillator at Fox Valley.

“The more people that know how to use the device and perform CPR the greater chance of survival for someone suffering a cardiac arrest.”

Details of how to access the live saving equipment can be found on the cabinet.

Centre manager at Fox Valley Annabel Plumtree said: “It is fantastic that the new Public Access Defibrillator has now been installed.

“We are really pleased to be able to support this new facility working with the Penistone and Stocksbridge Community First Responders.”

The First Responders are a group of volunteers who work in partnership with Yorkshire Ambulance Service.

Anyone interested in attending the next training session on November 24th should contact  PenistoneCFR@hotmail.com or message the group through their facebook page.
