Fact finding trip to Italy for Fox Valley team as restaurant prepares for June opening

27 April 2016

Members of the Fox Valley management team have taken a fact finding trip to the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy - culinary home of Ponti's Italian Kitchen which opens at the centre in June.

Annabel Plumtree and Medi Parry were invited by the Ponti's team to join them in a two day visit to find out more about the region, the fantastic northern Italian food and wine, and the local suppliers the brand new restaurant will use.

The trip included visits to Colla - Italy's largest manufacturer of parmigiano reggiano as well as a tour of the Perini and Perini Winery - the regions famous sparkling wine will be served in the restaurant alongside other fantastic local wines from the region.

The new Fox Valley Ponti's Italian Kitchen is the company's first venture outside London. The restaurant has been designed by the award winning interior designer Simon McIlwraith of Collective Design and is also inspired by the Emilia-Romagna region.

Ponti's Italian Kitchen will be set over two floors and overlooks the landscaped fountain area at Fox Valley - there will be a stunning alfresco dining area, taking advantage of the south facing aspects at the new shopping destination.

Headed by Stefano Ispani, Ponti’s Italian Kitchen has two restaurants in the West End of London – the new Fox Valley restaurant will be the first outside of the capital.

Stefano said: “The provenance of our produce and style of cooking is hugely important to us here at Ponti’s Italian Kitchen – we have our culinary roots on the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy and we like to keep that close relationship with the area and with our producers.

“We regularly visit our suppliers in the region so it was pleasure to introduce the team from Fox Valley to the region. We hope it gave them a really useful insight to the menu and experience we will be bringing to our new restaurant when we open in June.”

Medi Parry, centre manager at Fox Valley's sister site Sanderson Arcade and director of the Dransfield Properties Management firm GVFM, said: “This was a great opportunity to visit the region which inspires the Ponti’s menu and experience. It’s a beautiful area and we were made to feel extremely welcome.

“We’re looking forward to Stefano and his team bringing a little taste of this beautiful region to Sheffield when the new restaurant opens in June.”
