Date of event: June 16th
Time: 10.30am for 11am
Location: Fox Valley, Stocksbridge, north Sheffield, S36 2AB (or use S36 2JA for SatNav)

The long awaited Fox Valley shopping centre will be officially opened at 11am tomorrow (Thursday June 16th)  – and there’s an Absolutely Fabulous special guest who will be launching the £50 million town centre project in north Sheffield.

Joanna Lumley OBE, who plays shopaholic Patsy in the hit TV comedy Absolutely Fabulous is the guest of honour at the official opening event which will mark the launch of the first stores in a retail line up which is set to put this part of north Sheffield on the map as a major retail destination.

Work started on the first phase of this complex town centre project more than two years ago and the development has been almost ten years in the planning. The development has transformed a 28 acre former steelworks site bringing a new commercial heart to the area.

As well as a 144,000 sq. ft. of new retail space the new Fox Valley development has also delivered 60,000 sq. ft. of new high specification offices bringing a host of new businesses to the area. Stonebridge Homes are also building 118 new riverside homes on a neighbouring site.

And tomorrow shoppers in the area will get the chance to visit the centre and help celebrate the investment in this part of north Sheffield which is creating up to 900 new jobs.

The development has been delivered by the award winning south Yorkshire retail property firm Dransfield Properties Ltd. The company was founded 24 years ago and has a track record of delivering high quality town centre retail developments with centres in Manchester, Selby, Morpeth and Gainsborough as well as the new Fox Valley development.

Mark Dransfield, Managing Director of Dransfield Properties, said: “Fox Valley is undoubtedly our flagship development and we are absolutely delighted to be welcoming Joanna Lumley to officially open the new centre.

“It will be an extremely proud day for everyone involved in the project and I hope also for everyone in the local community who has watched Fox Valley take shape over the last two years. We are looking forward to this first phase of stores opening and welcoming some great new businesses to the area.”
